The Cove Card holds the key to Save, your savings account. It works with Cove on your phone: hold the card to the phone, enter its PIN, done. Neither the card nor the phone can move Save alone.
Why a card, not another gadget.
Your phone already has secure hardware built and tested by Apple and Google. The Cove Card adds the same kind of secure chip as a bank card, and nothing else: no battery, no screen, no firmware to update.

Save's key is made on the card and never leaves it. The card checks its own PIN and locks after too many wrong tries.

The second key, in the phone's secure chip. It shows you exactly what the card is approving.
Your Save recovery key
Written down and kept somewhere else. With either the phone or the card, it gets Save back.

- Move money into and out of Save with a tap and the card's PIN, approved on your phone.
- Recover a lost phone: on the new phone choose "Lost phone? Recover with Cove Card". Spend, its tokens, pool shares and your duress wallet come back; with your Save recovery key, Save too.
- A backup card with the same Save key, kept somewhere else, so losing one card isn't losing Save.
- Add a co-signer and Save needs your card and them, with a 3-day hold they can cancel.
Works with Android phones with NFC (Android 11 or later) and with iPhone once Cove is on the App Store. Cove's own open-source software for the card is in development.
